HORECA Excellence: 3 Key Moments in the Story of Vetreria di Borgonovo
Vetreria di Borgonovo in the 1990s: A New Chapter
After decades of evolution, Vetreria di Borgonovo entered the 1990s with a new vision for the HORECA sector, marking the beginning of a modern, international era. During this decade, the company solidified its status as an international player in the glass industry.
Pier Francesco Piccioni, son of Francesco, began working in the company at this time. From the warehouse to various departments, he gained a deep understanding of operations. Known for his initiative and practical mindset, he became the only person at the time fluent in English, handling direct communication with American machine manufacturers and even assisting with technical repairs.
When his father passed away in 1998, Pier Francesco was ready to take over, continuing his father’s legacy while embracing new directions with confidence and vision.

The Birth of Decover and the Formation of the Group
In 1994, a major turning point came with the creation of Decover, a company dedicated to the decorative customization of glassware.
Originally based in Milan, Decover had ceased operations due to financial issues. Vetreria di Borgonovo seized this opportunity and acquired the business to gain full control over decoration processes. Within a few years, Decover was relocated to Borgonovo, integrated into the main facility, and fully modernized—giving rise to the Vetreria Group.
This move allowed for greater independence, improved service, and more tailored solutions for customers in the HORECA sector.

A Partnership That Stands the Test of Time
